Extreeeeeeeemely lazy day today. Not that I didn't do anything, rather I just felt like doing nothing. I woke up this morning to (surprise!) rain! Rain gets me thinking and even more sleepy. I've been so busy lately - going to the wonderful IKEA, going to get a dog and not getting a dog and then almost getting one again...painting my room, painting furniture, summer school....blah blah blah.
But I think my room looks amazing! Not to brag or anything, but it took my whole weekend and I'm proud of it. I'd post pictures, but it's walking into the creepy side a bit, eh?
And saturday was the best of all!
Why, you ask?
Because it was Hitchcock day on TCM! Hitchcock films all day! Starting at 6 AM I saw the beloved Psycho (!!!), Rear Window, North by Northwest, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo...etc, etc. I had that day marked on my calendar for a month in advance. It was a date with the Master of Suspense and I adored it. Good thing, because I was having Psycho withdrawals.
Speaking of Mr. Perkins, I'm off to finish The Matchmaker and decorate the room some more. Au revoir!
YouTube Tuesday!
My Fair Lady - I Could Have Danced All Night, Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle. It's just so catchy. Plus I sing it every night before I go to bed.
Just kidding.

an angel and a thriller.
Sad news from the world of entertainment today.
Michael Jackson, 50, passed away. Apparently of cardiac arrest. Although in his later years he was considered quite unusual and bizarre, the music he produced was unique and an influence on my dancing when I was a bad ass little hip-hop-er. :) I absolutely loved putting on 'The Way You Make Me Feel' then imitate the dance from the movie Center Stage. Good times. And who can forget THRILLER?! Everyone (and you know EVERYONE) has tried to do that dance at least once in their life. Oh, Mr. Jackson - I salute you sir for giving me motivation to dance.
Another star in Hollywood has also passed - Miss Farrah Fawcett, one of the original Charlie's Angels. Ms. Fawcett had been battling cancer for over two years and finally succumbed to her illness earlier today as well.

Both stars shall be missed.

Hummus, become us.
At this moment, I am at zee Spider House trying hummus for the very first time. Spicy hummus to be exact and I give it an A+. Dare I say it's better than bean dip?! Because...well, it is. And healthier. Props to Ms. Bianca for giving me her stash of chips to go along with it. :)
In the middle of reading Wuthering Heights and I am just now enthralled with the book - it took until the 9th chapter to fully like the characters, but I guess that's what makes Emily's book different from Charlotte's --that the characters are more realistic in their actions rather than some lucky spiritual happenings that occur throughout Jane Eyre. Happenings that make the figures somewhat justified for acting as they do...excusing them, perhaps?
But the coffee isn't doing me justice tonight - I feel really tired (or lazy, haha?) even though I downed a iced something-something. I forget what they call it. An iced something-rico. Toddy Rico! An iced toddy rico.
Does anyone know if the poster cardboard you can buy is as sturdy as the cardboard used for paper towels, toilet paper etc.? If it is, it'll save me months of having to buy extraneous amounts of said paper - unless I can find someone who gives it away for FREE? Craigslist it is.
Youtube Tuesday Vid:
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers! I love this number! You know you just want to get up and try it. Don't deny it.

O! for a muse of fire, that would ascend the brightest heaven of invention.
I have found my muse! 'Tis a secret. A secret I hold dear to my heart. I know, I know - I'm vague already as it is. But to give away my source of inspiration...I just can't do it. Not yet. But it makes my hands itchy with ideas and oh so anxious - I can't sit still! I make notes and doodle all the time now. But to be motivated, to be creative again for the first time in what has to be over two f*cking years is amazing.
My clothes are still in a corner. So tomorrow I guess I'll be scavenging yard sales and thrift stores. If you know anyone throwing out a dresser/drawer, let me know!!!
Oh yes, yes...I went to goodwill today and a guy gave me a balloon. I don't know why I wanted to point that out, but it made my day. He asked me if I wanted one and before I could respond he just smiled and said, "Either way, before you walk out of here, you'll be leaving with a balloon in your hand." Everyone looked at me crazy as I paraded it around, but I didn't care. It was MY balloon.

she's got bette davis eyes.
All moved into my new house! Although, not quite unpacked. Half the room is absolutely cleaned and the other half, or rather one particular corner is crammed with clothes because I have yet to find a dresser for my room. I've been looking up different ways to decorate my room and I believe I'm going to paint it yellow. Not bold yellow and not canary yellow...but sunshine yellow. But not the kind that's going to give you a headache as you try to fall asleep.
I've also been visiting all these fine little vintage shops in Austin and they are just wonderful! I found some antique camera items that I must try out soon. One item is a photo enlarger - now I have to buy the developer, tumbler, etc. and soon I may develop and crop my own pictures.
In TV news, It's Orson Welles' spotlight tonight on TCM and I have to say that that Mr. Welles was quite dashing when he was younger. As are all the classic stars...le sigh. :)
Speaking of black and white, I have a test tomorrow, so this post has to be somewhat short. 1.) because I should really get started on the review while the coffee is fresh in my veins and 2.) because tonight is THE TRIAL at midnight. What a perfect way to end my night!
It's also youtube tuesday...so here's my video for the week:
It's GOB!!! He does his illusions...(not tricks!) and here's his intro song courtesy of the band, Europe. Seriously, it's a real song - not just some random music created for the show. I laugh everytime I hear it. It's why Will Arnett needs to do more movies.
p.s. Do people really have crushes on Michael Cera? While searching for this vid, I saw so many I heart MC fanmade vids...But if you like shy, awkward kids who are pigeonholed into the same role over and over again (poor guy) then by all means, do your thing.
update: it seems that The Trial will not be on until around 3 am. Eek, I'll be up all night!

you're the memory now that lives across the world.
Trying to get my life back on track...
Seems writing makes me happy. As does movies, so I shall try to get into the swing of things again. This blog has more to do with my readings lately, since I'm taking summer classes at the moment.
Factual point number one: I'm reading Jane Eyre for the third time (for summer school).
Factual point number two: I voiced an intelligent opinion today in my European Imperialism class. No, really, I usually don't speak in class (I'm much more the observing type), but the professor called on me and the words just spilled out, and in a completely articulate way! Much better than when I actually have something to say, raise my hand and by the time the prof calls on me it comes out all jumbled. Or even worse (and more humiliating) I could have just froze. But I didn't. You see, I usually only speak out in my English classes, because those are the only classes I really have a passion for so I actually make an effort to understand the material (or I wouldn't be majoring in it, heh heh). But I got lucky, I actually LIKE this class, so I did the readings. Don't ask me to recall what I said. It was a combination of Orientalism and the readings/viewings from the day before. Impressive, no?
Factual and most exciting third point: I have a deadline to continue reading The Trial and FINISH by the 16th. Cheer me on. I want to finish it before I watch it on TV in it's entirety (I've only seen it in parts). I have it on DVD, but I get excited when a movie *just happens* to be shown on the telly. It's a planned surprise.
Fourth make up point: I missed Youtube Tuesday....twice. So here's two videos to make up for it.
1.) Tracey Ullman -They Don't Know. This blew my mind. Mainly because Paul McCartney makes a cameo. And because I had no idea Tracey Ullman had a singing career.
2.) Fitting accordingly to this blog, I present the Trailer for Orson Welles' The Trial. I'm giddy just watching it.
