The Past Tubes of a Tuesday.

Horribly procrastinating.
At this point, I'm not going to get around to reading Tess of D'Urbervilles. I still have to view Jekyll and Hyde (1931?) and The Return of Dr. X and Dr. X Double Feature.

I did get to see charming Mr. Perkins in George Cukor's The Actress (1953) today. I believe Anthony is oh-too-pretty in this movie and quite young, but the scenes are just too cute with him in it...he waltzes! The studios really knew how to make him churn out that boyish charm.
Speaking of boyish charm, I've been reading Mr. Perkins' biography, Split Image by Charles Winecoff. It's very interesting, but I take alot of it with a grain of salt because everything is given on account of another person's memories and not only do some people choose to remain anonymous, but there's really no evidence to support anything that is said about the lovely actor. I am about a third of way into the book, just as he's settling to do Eugene O'Neill's Desire Under Elms with sultry Sophia Loren.

Also, I'm in the middle of watching Lawrence of Arabia. Who knew that Peter O' Toole looked young at one time? And he had the most beautiful blue eyes. I focus on his eyes more than the rest of the scene that plays out before him. The best semi-orientalist film out of the course.

YouTube Tuesday:
The scariest Jekyll to Hyde transformation. Seriously, don't watch if easily creeped out. Well, it isn't the *whole* scene, but if you can find the whole version, check it out - it's pretty good for not having CGI enhancers or the such. This is pure make up and lighting.
